I was fortunate enough to be born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Kentucky is a beautiful state as is other parts of the nation. Having lived there for many years I think I lost some of my appreciation for Mother Nature. However, it was renewed again after moving to Dallas, Texas. Now, don’t get me wrong, Texas is a great state and I would be unhappy if I had to move back to my home state of Kentucky. But as much as I enjoy living here, I do miss the natural beauty that Kentucky and other parts of the nation have to offer such as mountains, oceans and heavily wooded hillsides.
Some how, some way, after living in Dallas, Texas only a short while, I acquired an interest in the arts such as live theater, the symphony, and artisans of every sort such as painters, writers and photographers. Photography became my passion and I combined this with my love of Mother Nature. I took photography classes at SMU, hung out with professional photographers and became very enthusiastic about photographing Mother Nature with the intention of sharing it with others. I still take classes to stay current, hang out with other professional photographers and I’m still very enthusiastic when it comes to photographing God’s green earth.
In my opinion, there’s nothing to compare with a beautiful mature tree providing shade to cows dozing and grazing underneath. A beautiful sunrise or sunset is totally awesome. Go to inspiration point at Bryce Canyon in Utah. It’s like another planet; you won’t believe what Mother Nature has created. If you walk to the rim of the Grand Canyon just before sunrise you may feel, as I do, that God lives there. Have you watched a sunrise Lately? Put on some warm clothes, on a cool morning, and take a blanket to your favorite spot to watch the sun come up to warm and light the earth. This simple act can be a real blessing. Please help Mother Nature maintain her natural beauty.
